I’m a mom of four, and massage is my escape. Not a spa day - the one hour that is only mine.

Over the years I’ve had massages on 23 islands in the Maldives. Somewhere around the tenth, I stopped simply enjoying them and started noticing. The best ones all did the same things.

They began with your feet: warm water, the sand washed away, before anyone touched your back. The therapists were barefoot, and you never heard them. Nobody spoke unless you did. The linen was fresh, the oil was warm, and the sea did the rest.

At home I couldn’t find anything close. A menu, a choice between four packages, and a therapist who had never met me. So I built it: the best part of every massage I have loved, in one room in Sunninghill.

Then I added the one thing even the Maldives doesn’t do. Before you arrive, we ask you exactly what you want. The pressure. Where to spend the time. What to leave alone. Your therapist reads every word before you walk in.

It is now the only place I go.
